Marathon

HAPS has participated as an official Run for a Reason charity in the Chevron Houston Marathon as one of the original charities since the program started in 1994. Dedicated runners, walkers, fundraisers, donors, and supporters work hard to raise awareness and valuable funding for HAPS by donating funds, creating a fundraising page to share with friends and family, participating in the full marathon, half marathon and/or 5K races, or by cheering for and supporting race participants.

2022 Marathon Event - ChevronJoining Team HAPS for the Chevron Houston Marathon 5K, Half Marathon or Full Marathon is not about speed, it’s about representing a team built to empower and provide hope, it’s about running for a reason!

HAPS has been part of the Run For A Reason Program for 29 consecutive years, helping to fund HAPS services for our community. On January 14-15, 2023, Team HAPS will need your help in representing the team for the 5K, half and full marathons.

This year’s theme is Slow and Steady Wins the Race – afterall the Parkinson’s journey is a marathon and not a sprint. It is a disease to be managed over many years utilizing a steady management strategy that involves a team approach to care and support by incorporating knowledge, wisdom, positivity, creativity, and community. HAPS is there for every step of the journey.

You can join Team HAPS in 2023 by signing up for the 5K, half or full marathons, or simply by fundraising. All play a vital role in our team’s success!

  1. Walk/Run the 5K
NOTE: (Please let us know once you’ve signed up, the marathon will not share that information with us).
  2. Fundraise to run the half marathon or full marathon, or Donate for registration (HERO)
  3. Just fundraise! Whether you are participating in a race or not, you can still be part of Team HAPS and setup a fundraising page and encourage family and friends to help raise funds for a great cause.
