Houston Area Parkinson Society’s Annual Awards Event 2009, “Party for Parkinson’s,” was held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 6 pm at the Bayou Club located at 8550 Memorial Drive.
The evening included a brief awards ceremony, dinner and dancing to the sounds of El Orbits, and as promised was an exciting and fun-filled occasion.
Over 170 guests joined us as we recognized our distinguished award recipients for their steadfast support of the HAPS mission and for the outstanding contributions they have made to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s disease.
Houston Area Parkinson Society was proud to honor Houston Ballet with the Roy H. Cullen Quality of Life Award for the commitment it has made to helping people with Parkinson’s in the Houston community. Through a recent partnership, the Ballet has made it possible for HAPS to launch an innovative Dance for Parkinson’s program, adding tremendous value to the services the organization provides. HAPS also honored Baine Kerr, Sr. posthumously with the Lillie Cullen Quality of Life Award in recognition of having lived life with outstanding purpose and dignity, along with the many challenges that come with being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
In addition to the presentation of the Quality of Life Awards, HAPS proudly premiered a video showcasing the HAPS Dance for Parkinson's Group.
The funds generated by this event will contribute to the support of much-needed programs that serve the 19,000 people in the greater Houston area whose lives are affected by the demands and challenges of Parkinson’s.
